Pretty purple, dewy flowers.
Somehow I think the droplets make it look even better.
Although it’s started to wilt, this flower is clearly still interesting to this little fly.

This is how I discovered turkeys have a third set of eyelids. It was a kind of “blink and you’ll miss it” moment, pun intended. This third eyelid is called a nictitating membrane and is used to moisten the eye & clear out debris.
For some reason, I didn’t notice until afterward that this birds beak was chipped. It creates a very unusual look and combined with those soulful eyes shows a lot of character.
It’s a bit funny that coming from the zoo, my memory card is full of photos of flowers and poultry.

This moss was growing on the side of a tree. Moss is incredibly fascinating to me, it being simultaneously spongey, and up close, a bit like a miniature forest.
If I remember correctly this was a peony flower bud.
